I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving break! Welcome back and happy 1st day of December! Today we are doing four important things.
- Share: What are you thankful for?
- Reflect: Using the PCUS Creative Reflection Ideas, write 2 or more paragraphs reflecting on your final projects for the digital literacy unit.
- Write: I can’t believe we didn’t do letters to selves at the beginning of the year! Include: (1) something you did this summer that you don’t want to forget, (2) a goal for this school year, (3) a goal for the future, and (4) a pep talk for yourself!
- Preview: Second trimester is all about literature and poetry, party people!
Literature and Poetry Units:
We’ll be reading Kindred, by Octavia Butler, and The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Be prepared to write five-paragraph persuasive essays based on an exciting project that involves time travel research!
We’ll also be doing a poetry unit aligned with Poetry Out Loud that will include critical analysis, memorizing one or more poems, and performing in front of the class. The winner(s) of our class competition will go on to the school competition, and the winner of that will go on to the state competition, and the winner of that will go on to the national competition, and the winner of that will earn $50,000 toward college! Not too shabby!
