The one-on-one meetings will continue today, but first, a brief interruption to tell you about an awesome field trip this Saturday:
It will be an excellent example of humor being used to discuss important social issues, which is what we’ve been studying during our humor unit. Seats are limited and we are only taking 21 students, so if you want to go, you’d better write me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and tell me why! Doors open at 8:30, the show starts at 9:30, and the school is paying for half of your ticket, which means it will only cost you $10. Please bring your money and your signed permission slip in tomorrow or Thursday. (Note that the permission slip mentions there may be R rated material at the show– just a heads up for your parents.)
You can read more about the event here, but some important details are:
Post standup performance Q&A session with performers. Topics include: the writing process, production of a field piece, how short Jon Stewart really isn’t and more!
Each group (7 from our class, 7 from Ms. Medeiros’s, and 7 from Ms. Thoma’s) will need to come up with a good question for the Q+A at the end so start thinking about what you’d like to know more about.
And now for the one-on-one meetings…
The schedule for these meetings is listed below, based on the Drafting Organizers that you completed on Friday.
If you are not meeting with me, you need to be working independently or with your partner on your draft. If you have questions while I’m meeting with another student, please direct them to Mr. Alston.
